Giovanni Paolo Latella, with a Bachelors degree in Law and a post-graduate degree in Health Management, is a legal officer at the Italian Ministry of Health. His main skills are health law, public law, GDPR and EU regulations. He worked for ten years as head of communications of Calabria Regional Council, acting as focal point for the activities of the European Committee of Regions.
Since 2022, he has been Italy's representative into the ERNs Board of Member States at the European Commission. In this role he also contributed to the kick-off of the joint action JARDIN on rare diseases.
Within the Italian Ministry, he worked at the Directorate General for Health Planning and currently works at the Directorate General for the Digitisation of the National Health System, supporting the General Director in legal affairs. He is presently collaborating on the implementation in the Health sector of the NIS 2 European Directive on “measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the EU”.
Among other positions, he was a member of the Italian National Observatory on Waiting Lists in Health Care.
He represented Italy in the Public Health Working Party of the European Council and participated to the drafting of the regulation on the European health data space.
