Dorica Dan, mother to Oana, who was diagnosed with PWS at 18 years old, is a dedicated advocate for rare diseases. She represents RPWA - Romanian Prader Willi Association, serves as the co-ordinator of NoRo center, and as president of Romanian Association for Rare Cancers and Romanian National Alliance for Rare Diseases. She has also been a board member of EURORDIS since 2007, and is the vice-President. She established the Romanian Association for Rare Diseases, and in 2008, initiated the National Plan for Rare Diseases in Romania. She has contributed to national healthcare councils and committees and works as a consultant on inclusion strategy for people with diseases for the World Bank Romania and the World Health Organisation. In 2022, she received the Merit Order for the Promotion of Human Rights and Social Commitment, in the rank of Knight from the President of Romania.
