Nicole Wolf studied medicine at the Ruprecht-Karl University Heidelberg, Germany, and at Queen’s University Belfast. She received her doctoral degree in 1998 for experimental work on proliferation control of chromaffin cells. She specialised in paediatrics and child neurology at the University Children’s Hospital Heidelberg and spent her last year as a fellow in child neurology at the Kinderspital Zürich. she is PI for hypomyelination and metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) at the Amsterdam Leukodystrophy Center. Regarding MLD, she works on treatment outcome and pathophysiology and is the driving force behind the MLD initiative, a European MLD consortium hosting the European MLD registry. She is also member of an international consortium on Vanishing White Matter and H-ABC. She is directly involved in clinical care for leukodystrophy patients. She (co)authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and 10 book chapters. In 2017, she was appointed associate professor In August 2021, she was appointed chair for “Therapy of leukodystrophies”. She is member of the editorial boards of Neurology and the European Journal of Paediatric Neurology and regularly serves as reviewer for high-impact journals. She is active in the ERN “Rare Neurological Diseases” where she serves as member of the management board and co-chairs the leukodystrophy disease group.
