Jan Deprest MD PhD FRCOG is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the KU Leuven (Belgium) and UCL (United Kingdom). He is a clinician-scientist in a surprising combination of research in urogynaecology and fetal therapy. In urogynaecology, his research interest is the training and implementation of endoscopic procedures; the host response to implants used for reconstruction; and the application of image analytical techniques. In fetal medicine, he has worked on the development of prenatal treatment of severe congenital birth defects. He has directed over 35 PhD projects. He has been awarded fellowship ad eundem at the RCOG (2012), the Ian Donald Gold Medal by ISUOG (2018), international membership in the US National Academy of Medicine (2022), Eric Saling Award (WAPM; 2023), International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis Pioneer in Prenatal Diagnosis and Therapy Award (2024).
