Since 2017, Michelle Battye is the Programme Manager for the European Reference Network for rare urogenital diseases and complex conditions (ERN eUROGEN). Prior to that she worked for the European Association of Urology since January 2015, facilitating greater engagement with the EU’s institutions and preparing the groundwork for the application to form the ERN.
Michelle’s professional experience started after university in the UK civil service for over ten years, mainly in the International and EU Unit of the Department for Work and Pensions. She lived and worked in Brussels for eight years. First, she was seconded as a Detached National Expert in the European Commission (DG EMPL) for four years, the Cabinet of the Belgian Minister for Social Affairs and Pensions, Frank Vanderbrucke, for a year and the Mayor of London’s Office in Brussels for three years.
Michelle has experience of working in government at regional, national and European levels.
