Carolina Darias San Sebastián is Spain’s current minister of health, a position she has held since January . In this role, she spearheads the country’s strategy to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, she served as minister of territorial affairs and public function for a year where she oversaw the coordination among the autonomous regions of Spain, alongside the ministry of health. Before joining the Spanish government, Darias held a variety of positions of political responsibility in her homeland, the Canary Islands, including member of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, delegate of the Canarias government, counselor of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria (local government) to reach the presidency of the Canary Parliament in 2015 after which she served as counselor of economics, knowledge and employment in 2019. She graduated from La Laguna University where she holds a bachelor’s degree in law.
