Hortensia is a clinical academic paediatric occupational therapist. She currently works as an Associate Director for research in therapies at Barts Health and is a clinical senior lecturer at Queen Mary University London. Hortensia works with children and young people with hyperkinetic movement disorders including rare disorders. She focuses on delivering interventions in a manner that enables young people to succeed in their functional goals, and further enables them to participate optimally in life situations. Her research is underpinned by an emphasis on theory and clinical knowledge allowing us to understand and tackle real life problems with novel interventions and research methodologies. She is particularly interested in understanding and measuring individual trajectories and the use of single case experimental design/n-of-1 trials to measure intervention outcomes, particularly for populations underserved in research such as rare disorders.
