Johanna Blom is a licensed physiotherapist with in- and outpatients within the field of Neurology at the University Hospital of Skane, Malmö. On the ward Johanna sees patients with different acute neurological diseases and injuries. As an outpatient, Johanna mainly sees patients with neuromuscular diseases, spasticity or dystonia. Since 2007, Johanna has assessed and treated dystonia patients, both individually for the physiotherapy treatment, but also in the team with the physician for diagnosis and BoNT-injections. During the years Johanna has had many workshops and lectures about dystonia, especially cervical dystonia, among physiotherapists, but also physicians and other professionals, in Northern Europe. In 2018 Johanna published a book in Swedish for physiotherapists about cervical dystonia and spasticity. In collaboration with Dystonia Europe and sponsored by Boston Scientific Foundation Europe, Johanna launched a digital platform with 115 exercises for cervical dystonia; as a first step in Sweden November 2021, and as a second step in five other European languages this coming autumn. After having assessed the patient, a physiotherapist with access to the platform will be able to design an individual home training program, available to the patient in the platform through a personal code.
